Labor Day Parade

Join your neighbors and the Brentwood Neighborhood Association in the park‚ near the pavilion, for our annual Labor Day celebration. This year, Labor Day is on Monday, September 5th. We will gather together at 9:30 am‚ for children’s sign-in and begin our Labor Day parade at 10 am. Decorate your bike, bring your dog, wear your best hat, dress as your favorite laborer, and parade around Brentwood park with us. Afterwards we will have watermelon in the shade. Come get to know your neighbors and celebrate Labor Day with us.

Hope to see you there.

Burnet Road Better Block - Sun Sep 11

The City of Austin’s Planning Department will be hosting a Burnet Road Better Block event between Clay Avenue and Houston Street on Sunday, Sept. 11 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Better Block will highlight a new pedestrian signal (you may have noticed the construction) as well as other permanent and temporary streetscape improvements. This is a collaborative effort made possible by various City departments, agencies, area businesses and groups.

The Better Block event will be held along Burnet Road and include the temporary street closure of the 5300 block of Clay Avenue (near Halina Day Spa). The event will implement safety and streetscape improvements identified in recent initiatives, including a new signalized crosswalk across Burnet Road at Lawnmont Avenue. The event will also use temporary street trees and furniture to demonstrate what Burnet Road could look like and make it easier, safer, and more comfortable to walk in the area. The Better Block will feature live music, free ice cream, outdoor seating, and giant games for people of all ages to enjoy.
